Midify
Drop in a recording and get a MIDI file to play on your digital piano or keyboard, straight from a flash drive. Everything happens on your own computer: nothing is uploaded.
1. The song
2. How careful should it be
3. Your MIDI file
Want the whole piano, not just the white keys?
This page is the demo. It does solo piano, because it is asking your browser to do something browsers were never built for. The Mac app is the real thing:
- Any song, not just piano. It pulls the drums, bass, chords and singing apart first, so a full band becomes a piano version with the tune in your right hand, or four separate parts.
- About five times faster, because it runs the models properly instead of inside a tab.
- Type a song name and pick a recording, instead of hunting for a file first.
- The full flash drive treatment: it checks the format, copies without leaving hidden Mac files behind, tidies up old ones, and ejects the drive.
- Keeps your songs in one place with a preview of each.
Installing it takes a minute
- Open the file you downloaded and drag the app onto the Applications folder next to it.
- Open it from Applications. macOS will say it "could not verify" the app. That is expected: Apple shows it for every app that has not paid Apple $99 a year to be checked, and this app is free. Click Done.
- Open System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll to the bottom, click Open Anyway, and confirm with your password or fingerprint.
That is once, ever. After that it opens like any other app. If you cancel the fingerprint by accident, the button disappears: just open the app once more and it comes back.
Comfortable with Terminal? This installs it with no warning at all, because it
builds the app on your Mac instead of downloading one:
